Ecoar is a free, personal tool for shadowing practice using YouTube videos. This page explains what data is collected while using the site and how it's handled.
Ecoar doesn't use its own cookies, doesn't require an account, doesn't store video history on its own servers, and doesn't track visitor behavior. The YouTube link you paste is processed only in your browser (and, when automatic caption lookup is available, by a server function that just passes the captions along — without storing anything).
When you use the recording feature to compare your voice with the original speaker, the audio is captured directly in your browser and is never uploaded anywhere — not to Ecoar's infrastructure, not to any third-party service. It exists only in your device's memory for the current session: it disappears when you record over it, when you press "Clear," when you close or reload the tab, and it's never saved automatically, either on the site or on your device. The only use of that recording is playing it back to you, at your request, inside the same page.
Videos are shown through YouTube's official embedded player. When you load a video, Google/YouTube may collect usage data under its own Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
Ecoar may show ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and identifiers to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other sites. You can turn off ad personalization by visiting Google Ads Settings.
The support button leads to an external page (buymeacoffee.com), which has its own privacy policy and processes payments independently of Ecoar.
